Terms of Use

These terms are a contract between you and the operator of Sustine for use of Sustine (the published website and the home-screen copy of it). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy.

The service

Sustine lets you record a morning intention, an evening review, and optional examinations and letters. It is a self-reported journal and measuring tool. We do not promise that using it will make you stoic, well, or successful.

Who may use it

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. If you use Sustine for an organization, you represent that you may bind it.

Your account

You are responsible for the sign-in you choose and for what is written under it. Keep the password, if you use one, to yourself. Tell us if you think the account is no longer yours alone.

Your writing

You retain whatever rights you have in the notes you type. You grant us a limited license to store them, display them back to you, and — only when you ask — send the relevant text to xAI to generate an examination or letter, and to store that result with your account. We do not claim ownership of your journal.

You represent that you have the right to enter what you enter, and that it does not violate the law or someone else’s rights.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• Try to open another person’s journal or break the service.
• Use the service to harm others, or to violate the law.
• Misuse the examination or letter as if it were a professional opinion.
• Reverse engineer, overload, or scrape the service beyond ordinary use.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Not advice

Examinations and letters are generated by an AI model. They can be wrong, incomplete, or unkind. They are not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. Sustine is not a substitute for a clinician, lawyer, or emergency service. If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.

Availability

The app is provided as it stands. Hosting, sign-in, and AI generation depend on xAI / Grok and other providers. They, and we, may be down, slow, or changed. Features may appear or disappear. We are not liable for lost entries if you rely on a preview copy of the project rather than the published app, or if a provider fails.

Keep your own copy of writing that you cannot afford to lose. You may print a letter from the app.

Paid features

Practice is free: morning intention, evening score, optional context, departures, and seven days of the journal. Citadel is paid — Sustine charges $12 per month or $99 per year — and holds the full journal, Measure, examinations, letters, and export. Payment, when checkout is open, is taken by Stripe. No charge is taken until checkout is explicitly opened.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE JOURNAL WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR OF SUSTINE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Some places do not allow certain limits. In those places, the limit is the maximum the law allows.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content or your misuse of the service, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and may request deletion of the account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may stop offering the service or close an account if these terms are broken or if we must.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York, except that we may seek injunctive relief anywhere if the service or another user is at risk.

Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top will change. If you continue to use the service after a change, you accept the new terms.
